Not all 3D printing processes are listed here, but those that are listed cover up to 95% of the 3D printing market.

FDM (Fused Deposition Modeling)

  •   -   material: thermoplastics, connected thermoplastics materials (metal, ceramics, glass, wood, etc.)

  •   -   medium quality
  •   -   low accuracy (0.1 mm)
  •   -   admissible contact with food (if certified)
  •   -   mechanical processing and painting are allowed
  •   -   UV resistant (depends on material)
  •   -   wide spectrum of hardness, from hard to rubbery state
  •   -   wide spectrum of colors

SLA (Stereolithografie)

  •   -   material: UV sensitive plastics and resins in liquid state
  •   -   medium to high price
  •   -   medium to high quality
  •   -   medium to high accuracy (up to 0.01 mm)
  •   -   do not allow contact with food products
  •   -   mechanical processing and painting are allowed
  •   -   UV unstable, (UV environment requires a protective coating)
  •   -   wide spectrum of hardness, from hard to rubbery state (digital mixing of materials)
  •   -   unicolorous

SLS (Selective laser sintering)

  •   -   material: thermoplastic, connected thermoplastics materials (metal, ceramics, glass, carbon fibers, etc.)
  •   -   medium to low price
  •   -   medium quality, post-processing required
  •   -   medium to low accuracy (0.05 - 0.1 mm)
  •   -   admissible contact with food (if certified)
  •   -   mechanical processing and painting are allowed
  •   -   UV resistant (depends on material)
  •   -   wide spectrum of hardness, from hard to rubbery state
  •   -   unicolorous

SLM (Selective laser melting)

  •   -   material: metal alloys
  •   -   high to very high price
  •   -   medium quality, mandatory post-processing required
  •   -   medium to low precision (0.05 - 0.1 mm), after CNC machining up to 0.001 mm
  •   -   admissible contact with food (if certified)
  •   -   obligatory mechanical processing, painting is possible
  •   -   UV resistant
  •   -   wide range of hardness, from hard to ultra-hard state
  •   -   unicolorous

PolyJet (colorify)

  •   -   material: UV sensitive plastics and resins in liquid state
  •   -   high to very high price
  •   -   high quality
  •   -   high accuracy (0.01 - 0.005 mm)
  •   -   contact with food products is not allowed
  •   -   no mechanical processing required, painting is possible
  •   -   UV unstable
  •   -   wide spectrum of hardness, from hard to rubbery state (digital mixing of materials)
  •   -   multicolor

MultyJet (mono color)

  •   -   material: UV sensitive plastics and resins in liquid state
  •   -   high to very high price
  •   -   high quality

3D Color Printing (colorify)

  •   -   material: plaster
  •   -   medium to high price
  •   -   medium quality
  •   -   average accuracy (0.1 mm)
  •   -   contact with food products is not allowed
  •   -   impregnation with transparent adhesives required
  •   -   UV resistant
  •   -   fragile, not solid, decomposes under mechanical stress
  •   -   multicolor
